Since 1912 and through its various incarnations, Macon Cabinet Works has been the place to find all things wood. That has evolved to include granite, wood countertops, shiplap and so much more.

In everything we do, our goal is to capture the unrepeatable beauty and physical heritage of the wood into a piece of artistry and function.

OUR START

It started with the demolition work we did as a part of other jobs. Sometimes old buildings have to come down, but amid the dilapidation are often sound boards, flooring, and other portions—good wood that bears heart and history in its fibers. A sense of loss nagged us as we handled such structures, derelict but full of beauty and a sense of heritage. It drove us to salvage this good wood, suffused with aged allure. We keep as much as possible of that history and natural beauty out of the landfill, and it has led us to see and savor other sources for wood’s unique beauties.

OUR PROCESS

We are a custom production wood shop. We combine craftsmanship, stewardship, and creativity to generate works of function and appeal. We work well with designers and know what carpenters need for a quality installation. Our pieces will help you create quality spaces imbued with your message and mission, be it in your home or your business venue. In short, we aren’t satisfied with “good enough."

We are selective about the sawmills and kilns we use. We visit places all over the region looking for the best woods and materials that aren't reclaimed. We aim to source sustainably. These searches yield one-of-a-kind specialty pieces and slabs.
